Ranua Wildlife Park , Finland

June 2015 ,

I received this postcard from The  Ranua Wildlife Park in Finland (better known as Ranua Zoo), it shows Ranzo a finnish polar bear born in Ranua Zoo and he lives now in an austrian zoo .

Ranua Zoo is a zoo that opened in 1983 in the municipality of Ranua, Lapland, Finland. It is the northernmost zoo in the world. The zoo's animals consist of approximately 50 wild animal species and 200 individuals, including top predators such as lynx, brown bears and wolves but also European moose and deers. The zoo has Finland's only polar bears in artificial snow. The Ranua Wildlife Park is an accredited member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria

This special postmark is awsome , it is in the form of cloudberry (also called Finnish gold) , it is Finland’s favourite fruit , The tiny, orange-gold bubbles, growing one fruit to a plant, emerge in July and remain ripe for only three weeks of the year. Cloudberries grow well off the beaten path in marshes and wet meadows, and are especially abundant in the wetlands of Lapland in Finland's far north. The start of cloudberry season is a cue for Finns to put everyday chores on hold and get picking

Thanks to my finnish friend Virpi for this beautiful card  :)
